100-Word review: Mount Salem – Endless

Mount Salem - Endless 192Mount Salem’s Endless actually came out in March, but as I’ve mentioned before I am working through a ridiculous backlog! It popped up on random play the other day and it’s a very good album…

Down-tuned guitars playing upbeat riffs, Endless is reminiscent of Black Sabbath at their best. Ozzy’s high-pitched vocals are substituted with those of female lead Emily Kopplin, who also covers organ duties (oo-er) for the album.

I’m not a massive fan of the doomy sound, with a few bands and individual tracks here and there managing to pique my interest. Mount Salem have managed to produce an entire album which I enjoyed from beginning to end. Good production, good songs, variety and every track a head-bobber.

Standout track for me was number three – “Lucid”. It’s got everything. Check it out below.
