Live podcast event this Sunday in Coventry will feature some of the Midlands’ hottest rock bands!

WAVE frontman and Dave’s World podcast host is planning his first live event in Coventry’s Arches venue this Sunday, read on to hear what Dave Musson has to say about it…

Celebrate the local rock scene in Coventry this Sunday

Some of the hottest bands in the West Midlands are heading to Coventry this Sunday for a special gig being organised by a local podcast.

Dave’s World Podcast, which shines the spotlight on the West Midlands’ heavy music scene every Wednesday, is hosting Dave’s World Live at the Arches Venue in Coventry, which will see seven of the bands the podcast has championed take to the stage.

The podcast, which launched in January 2016, is run by Kenilworth resident Dave Musson and features interviews with and music from West Midlands bands every single week, giving them a chance to have their music and voices heard by a wider audience.

Dave’s World has grown its listenership to more than 500 per week and this Sunday is the first time the podcast has put on a live event, which they are doing in association with Fargo Promotions.

Dave’s World Live will be headlined by Coventry hard rockers Black Star Bullet, who will mark the occasion by also releasing their new album  Our Own Noise  on the very same day.

The rest of the bill is also littered with quality acts; openers Blank Parody will be fresh from slots at Camden Rocks in London and ValeFest in Birmingham, while Telford’s post-hardcore trio Wax Futures and Lichfield’s grungy punks deny all Robots will both be playing in Coventry for the first time.

On top of that, Coventry grunge trio Kirikai are one of the most well-respected and well-liked bands on the local scene, Warwickshire medieval-inspired power metallers Barbikan won lots of new fans as they stormed to the final of the Coventry Metal 2 the Masses competition, while noisy rock duo WAVE – who also made it to the Metal 2 the Masses final and who feature the Dave’s World presenter on vocals and guitar – will use Sunday’s gig as the launch party for their new EP Jurassic Parkour, which is being released on Friday 9 June.

Organiser Dave Musson said: “The whole point of my podcast is to give the many brilliant local bands a platform to have their music heard by a wider audience and to support the local scene in general. Putting this gig on means I’ve got the chance to pull together a load of my very favourite bands that I’ve championed on the show and have them play together, which is an incredibly exciting thing to do”.

“This bill is packed full of talent; we’ve got two bands who made the Coventry Metal 2 the Masses final, two bands that are using the gig to celebrate the release of new records and three bands who have already put out superb EPs this year. It’s going to be a huge celebration of just strong the local rock scene is and I hope lots of people come and check it out.

“The gig wouldn’t be possible without the support of not only all the bands playing, but also Fargo Promotions and the Arches Venue, both of whom do an awful lot of great work for the Coventry music scene – so I’m thrilled to have them on board.”

Dave’s World Live takes place at the Arches Venue in Coventry, CV1 3JQ, on Sunday 11 June. Doors open at 4pm, first band starts at 4.45pm while the event will finish at 10pm. Entry is £5 and there will also be a charity bucket collection for the victims of the Manchester terrorist attack.
