In or can get to the Czech Republic in mid July? Well, if extreme metal is your thing I don’t think you’ll find a festival that’s better value for money than Obscene Extreme running from the 16th to the 20th of that month. And, being the Czech Republic, the beer should be good as well as cheap (around 1.30 Euro for a half litre).
Just announced today are headliners Possessed and, elsewhere on the bill, Cattle Decapitation. The latter kindly gave us an interview last year and have begun work on their new album, though it’s doubtful it will be ready for release before the festival. You never know, though!
The festival looks like a belter with 69 bands playing at a cost of around 50 Euros (purchase tickets through the website). In addition:
1. Truly underground.
Obscene Extreme is one of the few truly underground festivals to unite big, genre-defining bands, and small, cult bands.
Whatever you do or don’t do, believe or practice, you’re welcome at Obscene Extreme.
3. Fair ticket price.
No massive booking agent or energy drink mega-festival bullshit, Obscene Extreme is affordable for everyone.
4. No shitty rules, no shitty security.
Stage diving, stage invasions and more, all welcome. Obscene Extreme treats you like people and doesn’t stop you having fun.
5. Grindcore carnival.
Wear a gasmask, dress as a goregrind banana, Obscene Extreme is more than a festival – it’s a party!
Got to admit – that sounds good!
