SikTh – in the studio, on tour, sign to new label and confirm new single

After their graceful return with the Opacities EP last year, prog metal overlords SikTh are hard at work in various studios producing their, as yet untitled, third studio album which is planned to be unveiled this March. Dan Weller is handling the production duties alongside Adam “nolly” Getgood of Periphery who is looking after the mixing. A teaser titled “Open Palms All Alone” has been released on their site (or scroll down to see it). Of the recording sessions, vocalist Mikee says:

We’ve started recording and it is sounding really vibey so far. This album should be a lot more aggressive than our Opacities EP on the whole. A lot of slamming grooves there, also lots of intricacy and dynamics as always.

On the creative process within the band he says;

There is a formula in SikTh which works well. I always take the lead in the early stages and also I write all lyrics. But of course I am open to Joe Rosser, our new vocalist’s melodic input later on. We have not entered that stage yet. These initial steps are me laying my ideas in, since I have a great studio set up, if I do something awesome now, it goes straight on the record. That’s a great thing because as most vocalists will tell you, it’s all about the vibe and feeling. It’s all about the moment.

The lead single and video “No Wishbones” will be released on February 10th. The album will be released via new label Millennium Night, a sub label created by Snapper Music which was named after “Skies Of Millenium Night” from their 2003 debut The Trees Are Dead & Dried Out Wait For Something Wild. Mikee says this is a result of them not fitting and never feeling the need to… that’s pretty metal!

Prior to this hotly awaited release, the band will terrorise Europe as support to Trivium. The dates for this can be seen on the tour poster and tickets can be bought here.
