Independent Venue Week is a week-long celebration of small music venues around the UK, with a series of gigs at the end of January (23rd to 29th). This year is the fourth year that the event has taken place, and over 130 venues have signed up to host gigs between 23 and 29 January, making it the biggest year so far!
These venues are the backbone of the live music scene in this country and Independent Venue Week wants to recognise all that they have done to create some of the most memorable nights of the past so they can continue to do the same in the future.
At Moshville Times we champion unsigned bands, and supporting independent venues goes hand-in-hand with that philosophy. Most of your favourite bands will have started out playing to a handful of people in a small local venue, so head down to yours and show your support for real music. You are likely to meet like-minded music fans and you may even discover your new favourite band!
The full list of venues taking part in this year’s event can be found on the website, together with full show listings and links to purchase tickets. As it’s the “home town” of Moshville Times, we’re pleased to see that there are no fewer than four venues in our city taking part in the event.
Keep an eye out on this site for profiles of some of the venues popping up over this week and next as our Crew give their views of their local spots.
