Paradise Lost
Two classic albums, Host (1999) and Believe in Nothing (2001), are now available on streaming services and digitally for the first time ever. Host and Believe In Nothing marked the height of Paradise Lost’s flirtations with electronic and experimental rock. Originally released by EMI in 1999 and 2001, the band moved towards a more electronic direction with Nick Holmes’ vocals becoming increasingly melodic rather than the intense doom laden growls the band were known for.
Yet Paradise Lost’s alluring gloominess still shone through on these tracks; Holmes’ trademark depressive and heart-wrenchingly honest lyrics were still present along with the band’s brooding atmospheric sounds, albeit with less feedback, heavy doom and more claustrophobic synths.
Host was seen as a bold move by the band to expand beyond the conventions of the genre and break new ground in darkwave, whilst Believe In Nothing gradually reintroduced more guitar into Paradise Lost’s sound, helping the band to realise their creative vision. Frontman Nick Holmes comments:
Many people have asked over the years, but down to contractual issues we have never been able to make them available, so it’s great to announce that our albums Host and Believe in Nothing are finally available to stream on Spotify and Digital download.
Last month Paradise Lost also announced the reissue of their influential third album, Shades Of God, on limited edition picture disc LP to be released through Music For Nations on 22nd July.
Twisted Sister
The first “Metal Meltdown” concert series event kicked off at The Joint at the world famous Hard Rock Casino in Las Vegas on May 30, 2015. Legendary, multi-Platinum selling rockers Twisted Sister performed an explosive 90-minute concert of their biggest hits spanning their 40-year career. The show was dedicated to the honor of Twisted Sister’s iconic drummer, A.J. Pero, whose tragic, sudden death just two months prior to the filming of this event shocked the music world. The band announced that not only were all the remaining concerts being performed in 2015 dedicated to the memory of A.J. Pero, but that 2016 would mark the 40th and final year of the band’s legendary live performances. They recruited renowned drummer and friend of A.J. Pero, Mike Portnoy (The Winery Dogs, Dream Theater, Avenged Sevenfold) to take the reins, and his very first Twisted Sister appearance was captured by the “Metal Meltdown” camera crew.
Twisted Sister fans will now get to witness that special concert produced by the award-winning production company, Rock Fuel Media in association with Loud & Proud Records. Directed by Brian Lockwood (Bon Jovi, Metallica, Motley Crue), Metal Meltdown – Featuring Twisted Sister Live at the Hard Rock Casino – Las Vegas features that complete concert, as well as Rockshow, a bonus documentary that takes fans through the band’s 40-year ride from local club outcasts to world domination with exclusive interviews, archive footage from the ‘80s, and a photo gallery. It was mixed in 5.1 Surround Sound. Set for release August 5th, the retail package includes both BluRay and DVD formats as well as an audio CD.
Anata
Kaotoxin is proud to announce the second release by Kaoskvlt, its new sub-label dedicated to old-school Metal gems: Anata‘s 1998 debut full-length, The Infernal Depths of Hatred, which will be unleashed on October 21st worldwide, for the first time ever on vinyl!
Released in 1998 through then recently launched French label Season of Mist, The Infernal Depths of Hatred took the unsuspecting death metal scene by storm combining a sped up version of the trademark melodic, catchy and uptempo Gothenburg “New Wave of Swedish Death Metal” sound (At The Gates, Soilwork, Dark Tranquillity…) with faster, relentless, heavy parts influenced by the rawer, darker and heavier typical US Death Metal of that time (Morbid Angel, Suffocation, Cannibal Corpse…).
Specially remastered for analog physical supports at the Conkrere studio (Loudblast remasters, Gorod, Otargos…) and coming with a bonus Morbid Angel cover version (“Day of Suffering”) taken from Anata’s 1999 War, vol.II split with Bethsaida, the brand new 2016 version of the album’s collector first press will be limited to 300 hand-numbered copies and come as a yellow and black marbled 12″ vinyl LP.

Meridians
Metalcore quintet Meridians are set to release their debut EP titled The EP on June 24th, but have decided to give their fans a sneak peak today. Since forming in 2012, Meridians has been working on their craft to perfect their debut release and with influences of We Came As Romans and The Color Morale, the band is sure to be a fresh face in the metalcore genre. Josh Miller (drummer and clean vocals) says:
Making this EP into a reality was one of the hardest things we have ever done. It took us nearly 3 years of member changes, gear changes, and all around “starting over” on several occasions to finally end up with something we are all proud to call our own. We just hope our past, present, and future fans will love it as much as we love them. Although this album and the songs it contains holds a myriad of meanings to each of us individually, The EP is still something we made with our fans in mind.
