Rocking in from Melbourne down under, Tequila Mockingbyrd have the Lzzy Hale seal of approval (“Incredible; those girls are so talented…what a voice, I love it!”) and a debut album dropping on July 8th.
Fight and Flight will be out through Distortion Records on that date alongside lead track “I Smell Rock N Roll”. The song was written as the band wondered what the Lynx deodorant “Rockstar” would smell like (my money’s on something like an energy drink) and a video for it will be released shortly.
Since forming in 2012, the all-female melodic punk trio have played over 200 shows, so the album is the result of a lot of sweat and effort. More in some places than others, such as a visit to the Middle East to entertain troops in the area.
The band have this to say about the upcoming release:
We wanted to capture everything that the T-Byrds are about in this record – working hard, playing hard and most importantly having a damn good time. Throughout the recording process we tried to harness that rush of energy we get, and hopefully give the audience, during our live shows, and couldn’t be happier with the results. We’re planning on hitting the UK later in the year so people can come and enjoy the T-Byrd experience for themselves, watch this space!!!
