I only found out about this through word of mouth, but after some digging around I found the full details on Ace Von Johnson’s Twitter (link to post here). Hardcore Superstar have been announced as the replacement on the bill.
Unfortunately, the deal we made in order to do that tour was done on nothing more than a handshake – because we love the Quireboys and have a long history with them; we were initially going to share transportation, and a few other expenses with them.
However, When it came time to do paperwork and run the numbers around the holiday, nothing seemed to be what we had been originally told by the people putting on the tour, and it more or less would have to come out of pocket to do that run. For a band on its 30th year, it just didn’t make sense.
We were already taking a cut to make the run happen, because it’s a great package. But without transportation, a driver, etc – it ended up looking like expenses were 150% of what we were even being paid. And because it shouldn’t cost us several hundred dollars a day out of our own pockets to tour at this point; we were forced to pull out. And we let them know a while ago.
They just didn’t announce it because, I am guessing they possibly didn’t want it to hurt sales. I have to assume it will continue to look bad on our part but between that debacle and our switching from booking agencies several times over the last year, there have been a lot of cancelations/postponings, more or less out of our control.
Please don’t hold it against the band personally. We do still plan on coming over for another UK run within the year. Thanks for your understanding. Cheers!
