Actually, it’s their fan club at rakka-takka.de who are running the competition, but the band themselves are right behind it offering a ton of good prizes.
You see, Van Canto have a tour coming up in a few weeks to promote their soon-to-be-released fifth album, Dawn of the Brave. It’s 21 dates and covers Russia, Germany, Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, Germany, Czech Republic, Germany, France, Germany, Switzerland, Germany, London, Germany, Italy, Germany and Germany.
The band appreciate that with one date in some countries and no dates at all in others mean that some fans may struggle to get to see them. Especially if you don’t live in Germany. So what to do?
Well, Rakka-Takka are running a lottery. Six tickets costs you 10 Euros and prizes have been donated by the band – tour backdrop, drum heads, CDs, shirts, patches… some good shit. Tickets are on sale until the winner announcements on February 15th.
So far so lottery. But what’s the money for? Well, there’s a second part to the competition. If you live more than 300km from the nearest date to you on the tour (for instance, I would qualify as the nearest to me is London and it’s way over 300km away), then submit a video to YouTube and point the band to it via the email address info[at]rakka-takka.de before February 28th.
The band will pick the most deserving fan(s), and announce winners on March 1st. Those winners will be flown to and given tickets for the Cologne show on April 5th. Obviously, the more tickets they sell, the more fans from further afield they can budget for.
I love this idea! Spread the word and lets have some deserving folk take the prize!
Van Canto’s Dawn of the Brave comes out on Feb 10th in the UK and, with luck, I should have an interview with the band on these pages around that time.
