[avatar user=”Mosh” size=”50″ align=”left” /]I know in the grand scheme of things this isn’t really a major thing, but just after 9pm the Moshville Times facebook page picked up its 1000th like (and counting…).
The page started… actually it’s a bit vague. Originally the posts were just gig reviews now and again on my personal blog (www.moshblog.me.uk) and on a whim I decided to spin them off onto a site of their own. I threw in all the old rock/metal-related posts I could find, including the age-old tape recorded interviews, and just coasted along.
I can’t remember when Moshville Times became a site in its own right. Probably around the end of 2011? But over the last two years in particular it’s just gone mental. As things stand there are now thirteen of us (soon to be fourteen) working on the site in our spare time. For those who don’t know, I’m a teacher with three kids. Sean works mental hours in a kitchen. James is a student. Lara’s also a student and raises some funding with her photogaphy. Mark’s a writer…
Everything you see on these pages is the result of time and effort put in by the Crew, and I’d almost certainly have canned the site or just be bumbling along if it wasn’t for them. The site earns nothing. We don’t get paid, we get sod all in advertising revenue. We do it because we bloody love the music we write about, and the scene we’re a part of.
Thanks to all of you for reading the stuff we put up, sharing the posts, saying “hello” and giving us those likes. Thanks also to the bands for making the music, and the PR companies and labels for letting us into gigs for free and taking up everyone’s time.
On a personal note, though, thanks to all twelve of you I’m currently working with. Without your ideas, input, work and passion we’d not be here. Here’s to the next 8999 likes!
