#RoadToBOA2018 – Psychotype

As ever, we’re going to try and cover every single Jäger, New Blood and SOPHIE stage band before Bloodstock kicks off on August 9th. Your chance to check them out and start planning which bands to get there early for!

Trust us when we tell you that this is bound to result in some frustrating clashes because, as ever, there are some great bands on these three stages.

Our thanks to all the bands for taking the time out to answer our questions!

Psychotype – Hobgoblin New Blood Stage, Saturday

Simple things first – where are you guys from?

We’re from Poland and Norway.

How long have you been playing together as a band?

After over 10 years of empty promises Psycho–G and Psycho–T decided to take control of our music life and create the band. We have known each other for such a long time, but we have only played together for about a year.

Where does the name of the band come from?

Our motto is “never show your real face, because they will call you a psycho” and the name of our band comes from that.

Describe your music. What makes you unique?

We draw inspiration from different bands, and we try to do our best. We think that we create fat-groove metal music with some power-riffs and garish vocals. Our album The Way To Kill For sounds like that, and is kind of a mixture of Korn, Slipknot or old Sepultura styles.

What’s your live show like? Why are people going to watch you instead of another band?

We hide behind the masks, which gives us the opportunity to be whoever we want to be. Moreover, we would like to keep our identities private for as long as is possible and don’t show people our real faces. That is why we think it is more interesting for people to see us live; so they can wonder who is playing guitar or who is our drummer.

Have you been to Bloodstock before? What did you think?

We have never been to Bloodstock before. It is a huge festival and a lot of well-known bands play there so it is a really great opportunity for smaller bands like us to present their music. Sharing our music with thousands of people is very important for us, for our future.

Did you enter M2TM thinking you could win it?

We didn’t think about winning, we just wanted to put on a great show and hoped that people would have fun.

Which region did you win, or did you come through other channels?

We won M2TM Poland. There were a lot of really great bands in the competition, but in the end, the jury chose us…so here we are!

What sort of setlist can we expect?

Psycho! Crazy, fast songs…and maybe one ballad.

Which other bands do you most hope you’re not squished up next to so you can see them play?

Of course, we want to see Gojira and Judas Priest and we will see as many other bands that we can if we get time.

What are you working on at the moment?

We are currently working on our live shows. We want to book some good gigs and to promote our new album. We would also like to release our album abroad. Those are the most important things for us at the moment.

Jäger, Hobgoblin Ale, Red Bull, Kingstone Press Cider, Kaltenberg Beer or Bulleit Bourbon? And, yes, we’ll be counting all the votes!

Hmm… hard question…
