As ever, we’re going to try and cover every single Jäger, New Blood and SOPHIE stage band before Bloodstock kicks off on August 9th. Your chance to check them out and start planning which bands to get there early for!
Trust us when we tell you that this is bound to result in some frustrating clashes because, as ever, there are some great bands on these three stages.

Demonic Resurrection – Sophie Lancaster Stage, Sunday
Simple things first – where are you guys from?
We’re from Mumbai, India. We’re also now 50% from London, UK.
How long have you been playing together as a band?
The band itself has been around for 18 years now. I’m the only original member left, Viru (drums) has been with the band for 11 years now. Shoi (Lead Guitar) & Arran (Bass) joined us this year for all our UK shows. We have a different lead guitarist and bassist when we play in India who have been playing with us for a year now.
Where does the name of the band come from?
It came from my head and a long session sitting with a thesaurus trying to come up with a unique name. I’ve always been fascinated with medieval and fantasy based imagery and I’ve always loved demons and sort of ‘evil’ looking creatures so I wanted something to reflect that imagery.
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
Over 18 years our music has evolved quite a bit. We started out with an almost gothic meets black metal sound which evolved over the years. Right now I’d say Symphonic Death metal with an Indian twist is the best way to describe our sound. I think over 18 years we’ve evolved to create music that can be best described as ‘Demonic Resurrection’s music’.
What’s your live show like? Why are people going to watch you instead of another band?
Our live show is hopefully an experience and we’re hoping people who like our songs will come to hear us play them. I think we put a lot of passion and heart into our live set, not to mention a bit of humor ;) and I think people will enjoy the show if they come watch it.
Have you been to Bloodstock before? What did you think?
We played the festival in 2012 and we had a blast. We attended all 3 days of the festival and it was a real fun atmosphere and a great experience overall.
So how does it feel to be invited to play the one and only Bloodstock?
We’ve wanted to return to a festival for a while now so we’re pretty stoked to return and we’re excited to play for all our UK fans and hopefully make a bunch of new ones in the process.
What sort of setlist can we expect?
A short and sweet set list of songs from the new album ‘Dashavatar’ with a few old favourites thrown in.
Which main stage band do you most hope you’re not squished up next to so you can see them play?
Well since we’ve seen the schedule we’re glad we’ve not clashing with anyone we want to see. Really looking forward to watching Septiclfesh, De Profundis, Emperor and of course the mighty Judas Priest.
What are you working on at the moment?
We’re actually doing nothing right now, just prepping for the UK show but otherwise our day jobs are keeping us busy.
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done on tour?
Sadly we’ve never been a really rowdy bunch but this one time a certain member of the band had way too many Belgian beers mixed with Jager and there was some unspeakable events that occurred. It involved some projectile bodily fluids. I’ll say no more. There was this one time we did find one band member dragging a vacuum cleaner across the hotel lobby at 6am and he had no idea how he got there.
Jager, Hobgoblin Ale, Kraken, Kingstone Press Cider, Kaltenberg Beer or Bulleit Bourbon? And, yes, we’ll be counting all the votes!
Given that I’ve only actually tasted Jager from this list that will have to be it but I love cider and I’m interested to drink some of this Kingstone Press Cider.
