#RoadToBOA2018 – Alpha Omega

As ever, we’re going to try and cover every single Jäger, New Blood and SOPHIE stage band before Bloodstock kicks off on August 9th. Your chance to check them out and start planning which bands to get there early for!

Trust us when we tell you that this is bound to result in some frustrating clashes because, as ever, there are some great bands on these three stages.

Our thanks to all the bands for taking the time out to answer our questions!

Alpha Omega – Jägermeister Stage, Saturday

Simple things first – where are you guys from?

Norwich.

How long have you been playing together as a band?

We originally started in December 2014 but never really progressed until the current line-up which saw us ditch our old songs and write a completely new set. The current line-up has been since December 2017.

Where does the name of the band come from?

Alpha Omega means beginning and end. “We” are the beginning and “we” are the end, it is a parody on the religious take of the meaning.

Describe your music. What makes you unique?

Fast, savage thrash! We cut to the chase both musically and lyrically adopting a no-nonsense approach to both. This allows undiluted brutality to smash its way through leaving you wanting more.

What’s your live show like? Why are people going to watch you instead of another band?

Our shows are pretty intense and loud! From the first chord to last you’ll get aggressive music played with honesty and conviction which generally whips up a frenzy! No show-boating, straight down to business. Expect headbanging and moshing!

Have to been to Bloodstock before? What did you think?

Yes, this will be our 3rd time (1st time playing). Love it, it is an amazing festival. Excellently organised, great bands, great staff, well priced and awesome metalheads everywhere!

Did you ender M2TM thinking you could win it? Which region did you win, or did you come through other channels?

No, we entered to meet new people, get our sound out there and get some more gigs. We came through the East Anglia M2TM and a massive thanks to Errol, Kim and Dan for doing such a great job organising and hosting.

What sort of set list can we expect?

Hard and fast! Pretty much the set we used for M2TM with a new song thrown in.

Which other bands do you most hope you’re not squished up next to so you can see them play?

Bands we really wanna see on the Saturday are Cannibal Corpse (think the last band would have played the Jagermeister stage by then), Power Trip and Forgotten Remains. To be fair, we like to check all the bands out but those are a must!

What are you working on at the moment?

We are currently writing new songs, planning next recording session and making merch available online.

What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?

Not sure if it’s wild, but we were playing a gig with a crowd barrier which was nice and close to the stage. This guy was up against it jumping around but was clearly smashed. Mid-way through jumping he stopped, leant against the barrier and in one motion pivoted 180 degrees with his body complete straight and ended up in a crumpled heap on the monitors where he remained asleep – it was hilarious!

Jager, Hobgoblin Ale, Red Bull, Kingstone Press Cider, Kaltenberg Beer or Bulleit Bourbon? And, yes, we’ll be counting all the votes!

Beer and Bourbon!
