#RoadToMetalDays2018 – Battlesword

Always aiming to put the smaller / less well known bands front and centre, welcome to our series featuring acts on the New Forces stage at this year’s Metal Days festival in Slovenia, as well as a couple of bands who are being featured for a second time having trodden the boards of that stage in earlier years. We’ll be there with them and hopefully will catch as many of them live as possible so we can tell you how good they are! Tickets for the five-day (plus warmup!) event are still available for around £135. It takes place in Tolmin, Slovenia, from July 21st to 28th.

What is your band’s name and where are you from?

Hell-O, We are Battlesword from Germany. We play melodic death metal in the vein of bands like old In Flames, Arch Enemy or Amon Amarth.

When did you first find out about Metal Days?

This was back in the years when the festival started and when it was still called Metal Camp. Our guitarist Béla will visit the festival for the tenth time this year and for our singer it’s at least already the third visit.

How did you end up on the bill for this year’s festival?

We luckily sold enough tickets voluntarily as a “New Forces Band” last year so we won one of the opener slots for the second stage this year. We were freaked out by this good news and directly accepted this invitation.

Is this the furthest you’ll ever have played from home and/or the biggest gig you’ve ever played? If so, what was the furthest/biggest before now?

The furthest and biggest so far was our gig at Metaldays last year, when we played on the New Forces Stage. Other big events were some shows and festivals in Germany as support for bands like Debauchery, Moonsorrow, Suidakra or Thyrfing for example.

Which bands on the bill are you most looking forward to seeing?

This year it will be Behemoth, Kataklysm, Cannibal Corpse and, of course, the mighty Judas Priest! And besides them, we want to see as well our friends in Supreme Carnage and Sleepers’ Guilt.

Other than bands, what are you most looking forward to about Metal Days?

We are again looking forward to enjoying the relaxed atmosphere on the campsite and the beaches, to meeting old and making new friends from all over the world.

Before you hit the stage: Monster energy drink or Laško beer?

Laško of course!

We’ll see you there!

Yeah, we hope to meet you there. Enjoy our show and let’s have a few or preferably many beers together afterwards!
