#RoadToWildfire2018 – Black Cat Bones

Much like we endeavour every year before Bloodstock, this year, for Scotland’s Wildfire Festival which kicks off on 22nd June, we’re interviewing every band set to play the stages of Wiston. You get to hear (or read) right from the horse’s mouth who you should be watching over the course of the weekend.

Previous years have seen some excellent acts grace the stages as our reviews can attest to and trust us when we say this year is no different! So get reading and listening so you can plan your coffee/beer/food breaks accordingly…

Our thanks to all the bands for taking the time out to answer our questions!

Black Cat Bones

Simple things first – where are you guys from?

Liverpool except Adam who is from Belfast and Jamie who is from the dark side of Liverpool (Wirral).

How long have you been playing together as a band?

We have been together since 2013, but have recently had a line-up change replacing the lead singer. Dan Byrne formerly of Black Diamond has taken the helm and it has been well received so we’re looking forward to what is to come.

Where does the name of the band come from?

The name comes from a line in a Muddy Waters song, he is a huge influence on each of us.

Describe your music. What makes you unique?

It’s hard bluesy rock with a metal edge.

What’s your live show like? Why should people watch you?

We are a very lively band on stage, expect to see us red faced, sweating and asking for some beer afterwards, if anyone’s buying.

Have you played Wildfire before? If so, when?

First time this year, looking forward to playing with some great bands such as Buffalo Summer.

What sort of setlist can we expect?

Hard-impact bluesy rock.

Which band are you most looking forward to seeing?

We’re looking forward to seeing Buffalo Summer, Ryders Creed and Mason Hill.

What have you got planned for the second half of 2018?

We are planning on hitting the road throughout November promoting a new record which we are aiming to have out in October.

What’s been the highlight for the band’s career so far?

Supporting bands such as The Answer, Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown, Santa Cruz or playing Hair Metal Heaven in Hull City Hall. It’s hard to choose; we had a great year last year.

What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?

Ben Laguda of Massive dressed up as a Lifeguard/Mermaid on our tour with them last year which was pretty strange. In general, he is quite odd.

If you were second on a three-band bill, which band would you love to be supporting and which band would you choose to open for you? A chance to plug someone you’ve toured with, or a mate’s band we’ve not heard of before!

If we were on a three-band bill, we’d take the opening slot and have Massive second and the guys from The Answer headline. Both great bands and a pleasure to share the stage with.

What day/time are you playing at Wildfire? (If you have your slot yet!)

We haven’t received full details of our slot yet but we are playing the Friday.

Pistonhead Lager, Cloven Hoof rum or Thistly Cross cider? And yes, we’ll be counting the votes!

Cloven Hoof all day, every day.
