As ever, we’re going to try and cover every single Jäger, New Blood and SOPHIE stage band before Bloodstock kicks off on August 10th. Your chance to check them out and start planning which bands to get there early for!
Trust us when we tell you that this is bound to result in some frustrating clashes because, as ever, there are some great bands on these three stages.
Our thanks to all the bands for taking the time out to answer our questions!
Kroh – Sophie Lancaster Stage, Saturday
Simple things first – where are you guys from?
Birmingham, though Oli is originally from Poland.
How long have you been playing together as a band?
Two years as this line up, but the band existed before with a different singer and was only a studio experiment, and I have played in other bands with some of the members.
Where does the name of the band come from?
Truthfully, it was painted on a wall that was on the way to band practise. I thought it summed up what we were trying to make.
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
We are doom, but not always slow. Catchy but not in a pop way. Influenced by things that are mainly not metal bands.
What’s your live show like? Why are people going to watch you instead of another band?
Our show is badly heavy riffs with loads of headbanging and ethereal vocals floating over the top.
Have you played Bloodstock before? If so, when?
Not as this band, but members of us have played the festival before in a few other bands. Burden of the Noose and Exploder being two examples.
How/when did you find out that you’d be playing the SOPHIE stage?
When we got the booking confirmation.
What sort of setlist can we expect?
We chose all the mid-paced songs for the audience at Bloodstock. We will be playing without breaks to fit it all in.
Which main stage band do you most hope you’re not clashing with so you can see them play?
Looking forward to seeing Ghost the most. We all love Ghost.
What are you working on at the moment?
New material, always working, always busy.
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
I saw someone stage dive and miss the crowd and land straight on the crowd barrier. That was wild.
Jager, Hobgoblin Ale, Kraken, Kingstone Press Cider, Kaltenberg Beer or Bulleit Bourbon? And, yes, we’ll be counting all the votes!
Unfortunately, I’m the driver….
