Bloodstock 2017 Interview: Solar Sons

Just after their performance on the New Blood stage on the Saturday at Bloodstock, we had a quick chat with Solar Suns about their performance. Read on for the full transcription…

You guys played on the New Blood stage earlier today. How was it for you guys?

It was fucking ace, man. It was such an incredible experience and the tent was still pretty busy even when Annihilator went on stage! We didn’t expect it to be quite as incredible as that but we had a really good time.

Is this your first time at the festival or have any of you been before?

This is our first time here and we’ve had a great time. We’ve been to other festivals but they don’t have the same vibe as here. Everyone here is really friendly and we’re debating making a thing of this and coming back next year as we’ve had such an awesome time.

What bands are you looking forward to seeing?

We really enjoyed Testament yesterday and Ramage Inc on the Thursday were absolutely incredible. They opened the festival in such a great way and we look forward to seeing them again in the future.

What are your guys plans for the next year?

Our album is coming out within the next few weeks which we’ve been working on for the past year. There’s 9 new tracks and some killer artwork with it so we’re hopeful that it’ll do quite well. We’ve also got a couple of gigs lined up over the next few months as well and hopefully we’ll be getting some more gigs like this, or a couple of other shows as well.

If you were putting the festival on next year, what 3 bands would you pick to headline?

Testament as they were awesome and well deserving of a headliner slot. Iron Maiden as well as they’d be awesome. Rush as well, if they get back together! Then again the announcement is soon so we’ll see who they end up getting! (Spoiler: Gojira and Nightwish)

Describe the band in 3 words.

Heavy, space, prog.
