As ever, we’re going to try and cover every single Jäger, New Blood and SOPHIE stage band before Bloodstock kicks off on August 10th. Your chance to check them out and start planning which bands to get there early for!
Trust us when we tell you that this is bound to result in some frustrating clashes because, as ever, there are some great bands on these three stages.
Our thanks to all the bands for taking the time out to answer our questions – and to Torqued in particular for being the first!
Simple things first – where are you guys from?
We are based down in Devon.
How long have you been playing together as a band?
Torqued have only been together since November 2016, but the three of us have been making music together for just under 9 years now, in a previous project.
Where does the name of the band come from?
The name “Torqued” speaks for itself. It’s about doing everything flat out, fully torqued.
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
We are a groove-laden heavy metal outfit. We’ve been told in recent live reviews that we create a wall of sound as if the band had twice as many members. To us it’s all about the groove, crunch and feel.
What’s your live show like? Why are people going to watch you instead of another band?
Again, we’ve been told that our show is energetic, heavy and there’s always something going on. We pride ourselves on involving the crowd as much as possible. At the end of the day, that’s what a live show is about… Them, not us.
Have you been to Bloodstock before? What did you think?
Sadly only one of us has. That horrid thing called work always got in the way for the rest of us. But we know that Bloodstock is the best heavy metal festival going. The family atmosphere and camaraderie of the bands and fans is found nowhere else.
Did you enter M2TM thinking you could win it? Which region did you win?
We didn’t enter the M2TM. We were personally invited by Simon Hall.
What sort of setlist can we expect?
Heavy, groovy, sweaty and we hope, memorable
Which main stage band do you most hope you’re not squished up next to so you can see them play?
At present all we know is that we are playing on the Sunday. As I’m sure you know, the M2TM Finals still haven’t finished, so until then the timings etc. haven’t been given out.
What are you working on at the moment?
We are currently writing and demoing tracks for our debut album. This is due for release early next year.
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done on tour?
Planking on the roof of the tour bus, up a main high street naked, does seem to attract the wrong kind of attention. The less said about that the better…
Jäger, Hobgoblin Ale, Kraken, Kingstone Press Cider, Kaltenberg Beer or Bulleit Bourbon? And, yes, we’ll be counting all the votes!
