As ever, we’re going to try and cover every single Jäger, New Blood and SOPHIE stage band before Bloodstock kicks off on August 10th. Your chance to check them out and start planning which bands to get there early for!
Trust us when we tell you that this is bound to result in some frustrating clashes because, as ever, there are some great bands on these three stages.
Our thanks to all the bands for taking the time out to answer our questions!
Seething Akira – Hobgoblin New Blood Stage, Sunday
Simple things first – where are you guys from?
We’re from the Sunny South Coast of Portsmouth and Brighton.
How long have you been playing together as a band?
We’ve been a band for over seven years now, in various forms.
Where does the name of the band come from?
Ah man, the classic question. So, Charlie loves Manga films, in particular Akira. There’s a poster where one of the lead characters looks pretty damn grumpy… thus, Seething Akira. Cool story, huh?
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
Ok, so everyone says they’re different right? I think the only true answer is that we do what we like, and blend electronics with metal and rap in our own messy way. It’s cool that some people appear to like it!
What’s your live show like? Why are people going to watch you instead of another band?
So we run around the stage like a coma victim being zapped with a cattle-prod whilst sweating our saggy moobs off.
Have you been to Bloodstock before? What did you think?
Yup, it’s an incredible festival! Even though it’s large, its got a proper family feel!
Did you enter M2TM thinking you could win it? Which region did you win?
Hell no! It really was an amazing surprise. We won the Bournemouth region at an awesome venue called The Anvil. Go watch a gig there, it’s an absolutely great venue run by great music people!
What sort of set list can we expect?
High energy, we really try and get the crowd to be part of the show… barriers suck.
Which main stage band do you most hope you’re not squished up next to so you can see them play?
I’m a huge Skindred fan, we supported them once last year and they’re so much fun live!
What are you working on at the moment?
It’s the album… due later this year, kids. Save your pennies, cause that’s all it’ll be on Spotify.
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done on tour?
We were on tour with Mordred (US)… I ate one of their pubes, it wasn’t even a dare. I’m not proud.
Jager, Hobgoblin Ale, Kraken, Kingstone Press Cider, Kaltenberg Beer or Bulleit Bourbon? And, yes, we’ll be counting all the votes!
Jager, until my liver fails.
