As ever, we’re going to try and cover every single Jäger, New Blood and SOPHIE stage band before Bloodstock kicks off on August 10th. Your chance to check them out and start planning which bands to get there early for!
Trust us when we tell you that this is bound to result in some frustrating clashes because, as ever, there are some great bands on these three stages.
Our thanks to all the bands for taking the time out to answer our questions!
Florence Black – Sophie Lancaster Stage, Saturday
Simple things first – Where are you guys from?
We’re from the valleys in Wales, UK. In between the mountains there are small villages where we formed and grew up!
How long have you guys been playing together?
We have been in a band together since 2013, writing and performing our own material.
Where does the band name come from?
The band name comes from an event which happened in Aberfan in 1966. It was the name of a woman who used to carry coal back to her house by tying it onto a bike.
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
All music is unique. I’d describe our live sound as heavy, melodic and powerful. That’s the sound we love to produce… Rock. With three of us, we like to turn up just that extra bit to blow people’s heads off.
What’s your live show like? Why are people going to watch you instead of another band?
Our live show is dynamically dynamite. Very ‘in your face’. We love getting the crowd bouncing! Every breath is put into making our show the best we’ve ever played. We leave everything on the stage.
Have you played Bloodstock before? If so, when? And tell us about the experience.
We are Bloodstock virgins, so it’s going to be a mental experience and will also be our biggest gig we’ve ever played.
How/when did you find out that you’d be playing the SOPHIE stage at Bloodstock?
We got an email saying they want us to play. You don’t need to ask us twice!
What sort of setlist can we expect?
Put it this way, if you are not there… Your going to miss a big part of rock’n’roll history.
Which main stage band do you most hope you’re not clashing with so you can see them play?
Ghost. Never seen them before, and we have a song called “Ghost”. Check it out!
What are you working on at the moment? Can we expect any new releases in the future, or perhaps sneak peaks at Bloodstock?
Music videos, album ideas. Our first album is in the process of being made. We can’t wait to release it!
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done on tour?
No comment, haha!
And finally, if you had to pick one drink, which would it be: Jager, Hobgoblin Ale, Kingstone Press Cider, Kaltenberg Beer, or Bulleit Bourbon? And yes, we will be counting all of the votes!
