As ever, we’re going to try and cover every single Jäger, New Blood and SOPHIE stage band before Bloodstock kicks off on August 10th. Your chance to check them out and start planning which bands to get there early for!
Trust us when we tell you that this is bound to result in some frustrating clashes because, as ever, there are some great bands on these three stages.
Our thanks to all the bands for taking the time out to answer our questions!
Battle Beast – Sophie Lancaster Stage, Thursday
Simple things first – where are you guys from?
We’re all from Finland: Helsinki and Tampere.
How long have you been playing together as a band?
The band was established officially 2008, I (Noora) joined the band in 2012.
Where does the name of the band come from?
I think it was a generally band decision, the ex-guitarist suggested the name to Juuso and Pyry in the early days of the band and it stuck.
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
We are energetic, entertaining and no one does it like we do. Our music has it’s unique Battle Beast sound which is a mix of disco, THM, hard rock and pop. The lead vocals stand out with Noora’s masculine/feminine sound with her strong and soulful way of singing.
What’s your live show like? Why are people going to watch you instead of another band?
We always give 200% on stage and our audience will always feel it and see it. We never underestimate our fans by just playing the songs but we want to give them a special show every time with a mind exploding energy, visual candy, drama, some extra surprise and unforgettable experience – the best night of their lives. We are also known to be even better live than on our albums.
Have you played Bloodstock before? If so, when?
We haven’t and that’s why we are even more excited and happy to be part of this great festival this year. Finally we get to give a hell of a show to the people of Bloodstock. No one should miss this historical moment.
How/when did you find out that you’d be playing the SOPHIE stage?
By reading our band e-mail, haha.
What sort of setlist can we expect?
Fresh and exciting!
Which main stage band do you most hope you’re not clashing with so you can see them play?
Well, we are playing on Thursday and SOPHIE is the only active stage that day, so we don’t have to worry about clashing with anyone!
What are you working on at the moment?
We are playing lots of festivals and preparing for the autumn tours in Europe. We are also going to Japan. We’ve got other great news coming in the near future.
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
Dee Snider.
Jager, Hobgoblin, Kraken, Kingstone Press Cider, Kaltenberg Beer or Bulleit Bourbon? And, yes, we’ll be counting all the votes!
As Finnish people we’ll drink it all, you know.
