#ROADTOBOA Interview: Vendetta

Bloodstock 2016 logoHere we go again… Last year we covered every band on the Hobgoblin New Blood and Jagermeister stages in the run-up to Bloodstock 2015. This year, we’re going one better and aim to have interviews from all the bands on those two stages as well as all of those on the SOPHIE stage prior to the event kicking off on August 11th. That’s almost 100 interviews to get online for you lucky people over the course of the next couple of weeks. I bloody love this job, but you lot owe me a beer at Catton Hall, right?

Thanks to all the bands who’ve taken the time to respond!

Vendetta – Hobgoblin New Blood stage, Saturday

Simple things first – where are you guys from?

Peterborough, Cambridgeshire.

How did you meet?

We are all from the same area and grew up together, we’ve known each other for over 30 years or more.

How long have you been playing together as a band?

We formed the band back in 1998 and have been together now for 18 years.

Where does the name of the band come from?

A friend said it and we thought ‘yeah that’s cool’, it’s stuck with us ever since!

What are your influences – individually or as a band?

Obviously we’re massively influenced by the hardcore bands of the USA but we all grew up listening the metal, thrash, death, prog, punk, reggae & hiphop.

Describe your music. What makes you unique?

We all grew up on the streets in hard times from hard backgrounds and that way of life along with the harsh reality of this fucked up world we live in is expressed through our songs and our lyrics.

What’s your live show like – why should the baying hordes troop over to the stage you’re playing on to watch you?

We are a solid band so expect a tight performance. You will not stop nodding your heads, we promise!

When/how did you find out you’d been selected to play at Bloodstock?

We were announced as winners of ‘Metal 2The Masses’ in East Anglia back in early June and it still hasn’t sunk in.

What sort of setlist can we expect?

We always try and give the crowd a dynamic set so we can show you the full range of what Vendetta is about.

Which main stage band do you most hope you’re not clashing with so you can see them play?

We know we are playing on the Saturday but don’t know what time. Hopefully we don’t clash with Gojira & Mastadon! Also really looking forward to Anthrax and Slayer!

What are you working on at the moment?

We’ve been working on a new album but the whole process has come to a halt since we found out about Bloodstock. No time for recording, only time to rehearse for the gigs we keep being offered!

What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done on tour?

Not sure how to answer this one without offending anybody.

What advice would you give to a young band just starting out today?

Do it for yourselves, stick at it, respect each other, work through all the hard times and eventually you’ll get your chance. If it’s hard then it’s worth it and it will pay off. We know a lot of bands that have come and gone over the years through disagreements. Agree to disagree and move on, make more music, be true to yourselves and live your life through your music.

If you could be part of any 3-band line-up who else would you have on the bill? One band above you and one below – a chance to plug a smaller, unsigned act!

That’s a tough question. We’d love to support Terror again definitely. As for an unsigned act, we know this band back home called Arms Of The Mountain. They are sick and heavy and certainly one to watch out for in the future.

What stage / time are you playing at Bloodstock (if you have your slot yet!)

All we know is that we are playing Saturday on the New Blood Stage.

If you have a current release you’d like us to tag on the bottom, please give us a link. Bandcamp, Soundcloud, Vimeo or YouTube are best J
