Interview: Pegasus

Pegasus - Fairy Tale EPI could spoil this interview by telling you all about the band… but they do a far better job themselves! Thanks to Stencil PR for sorting us out with some time with the guys in Pegasus.

Simple things first – where are you guys from?

We are Pegasus from Northern France

How did you meet?

Originally formed by the drummer and the singer, there have been some changes in the line up of the band. Some of us met before being in the band, some of us met by joining the band.

How long have you been playing together as a band?

The last change in the line up occurred at the beginning of 2015. But the band has existed since the end of  2013.

What are your influences – individually or as a band?

Individually, it would cover artists too different to quote them together! But as a band,  we take bands like Periphery, Northlane, Architects, August Burns Red as our biggests models

Describe your music. What makes you unique?

We can define it as metalcore, definitely. With little djent or progressive metal parts. We put as much energy as we can in it. We also mixed some heavy parts with more technicals parts. We sometimes have gone atmospheric and still. We compose music as it come. Of course we follow some codes, but it’s due to the music we listen and not to a specific will.

Do you have any particular lyrical themes?

We tried to denounce how some things in our society are hidden or kept secret from the masses, how only the good sides of things are shown. The Fairy Tale in our songs is the part made for the masses. A story made to be beautiful without mentioning the hard truth.

What’s your live show like? How many shows have you played?

We’ve played between 20 and 30 show. We give to the public a big dose of energy! We like to move while playing, our songs are pretty fast. And the public give us energy back as well!

What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?

Our singer and bassist have gone down with the public several times to open up the pit for one of our particularly violent parts!

What kit do you use / guitars do you play / etc.?

Our guitarists both play on Axe Fx for/Orange for head and cabs, with Ltd guitars. They also use Bare Knuckles pick ups. The bass is a Fender and the head/cab are both Ampeg. The drummer plays on a Tama with Symrna cymbals.

What are your plans for 2016?

We have a European tour planned for June. We are pretty excited about that!  We also play gigs all through the year in our area and further afield too. We want to play as much as possible to promote our music. We are already considering our next album and how we can make our music evolve. And maybe some videos !

If you could be part of any 3-band line-up (as support or headlining) who else would you have on the bill?

Northlane or Periphery and August Burns Red! We all have seen these bands on stage, and it was some amazing experiences. To be on tour and play these kind of gigs would be awesome.
