[avatar user=”wolfie” size=”50″ align=”left” /]A quick interview with the new band, purveyors of fine Norwegian black, death, thrash and rock ‘n’ roll! Aoife grabbed a few minutes with them outside the Underworld in Camden before their recent gig with Taake and Orkan.

What was the idea behind the band, because before the 3rd Attempt, you were in Carpathian Forest?

Carpathian Forest basically deteriorated and became something that we felt that we just couldn’t be part of any more, and that’s how we (3rd Attempt) began.

What were your influences behind the album ‘Born in Thorns’ lyrically and musically?

Carpathian Forest were a he influence as a few songs on the album were meant to be Carpathian Forest songs but nothing came of them, so we used them for the album.

Do you think that the Black Metal scene has evolved over the years, and in what ways?

Yes I do think it has evolved, with more bands being in the scene, but the scene itself has become a lot more ‘safe’ with bands, instead of being more rebellious.

What are your plans for the future?

We want to conquer the world! Do more of what we are doing at the moment, and creating new albums with more of our own influences behind them than Carpathian Forest influences like in the album ‘Born in Thorns’.

What bands are you listening to at the moment?

At home I listen to a lot of Doom Metal bands, as well as bands from the 70’s, with a good mix of Celtic, Classical and Blues bands, as well as Motorhead and Mysticum.

If you could tour with any band, who would it be?

Taake, to be honest we don’t really mind as long as the band are good people as we travel together and have to spend so much time together, especially if we are actually using planes to get around (like on this tour).
