Interview: Evil Invaders

I managed to snag twenty minutes or so with these young Belgian upstarts after their set at Glasgow Audio. The whole band crammed round a table and fed me beer in a bid to make me feel welcome and more positive. Little did they know that I already liked the band, and that the beer was therefore an unnecessary bribe!

Including a surprise appearance by Mike from Destruction (I’d finished recording by the time Schmier passed through), who may or may not have actually got naked, this was a fun interview with a bunch of guys who are obviously enjoying their time on the road despite a punishing schedule of 14 gigs in 14 days. I’m just glad, for their own sanity, that they’re not having to drive themselves around…

We covered a load of stuff about touring, and drinking Jupiler beer (who should send us all a crate each), and this new album coming up, and playing the Jupiler stage at Graspop, and not playing Wacken (it’s very important when you choose to get signed by a major label, guys), and drinking more Jupiler (seriously, send us beer)… enjoy! As ever, feel free to share, transcribe and so on. If you re-use the interview please drop me a line and tell me where so I can link to you.

My thanks to Joe, Sam, Senne and Nico for their time, the typically stressed tour manager Enzo and Andy at Napalm for helping organise things.

[…] part of the review. I [Mosh] covered the two opening acts. I missed a fair bit of Shrapnel as I was interviewing Evil Invaders and had to leave partway through Destruction due to having the kids at home. Hence I left coverage […]

[…] to interview them and their supports, we couldn’t possibly resist the opportunity. While Mosh caught up with first support band Evil Invaders (and what a great band they proved to be live too), I had the chance to have a wee chat with second […]
