Gifted singer/songwriter Ryan Quinn (The Voice – season 10) has released a video of his stirring rendition of the Temple of the Dog hit single “Say Hello to Heaven” in homage to the late Chris Cornell. Shot, recorded and edited by Frank Briggs in North Hollywood, CA, each layer of Quinn’s stunning tribute was a complete take, including vocals, with no pitch correction or fixing.
Chris Cornell was the reason I started singing. He’s had a profound influence on my singing and songwriting, and to honour his life and genius, I wanted to do something special.
I used to scream along to this song as a teenager until I blew out my voice. The way Chris hit such incredibly high notes with so much power absolutely blew my mind. The first time I heard “Say Hello to Heaven”, I knew I wanted to do that.
I hope this does the original some justice. RIP, Chris.
