Classic Covers: ONI – A Place For My Head

Canadian progressive metallers ONI have released a cover of “A Place For My Head” by Linkin Park as a tribute to the late Chester Bennington. Chester and the band were a vital influence on ONI, as frontman Jake Oni explains:

Linkin Park were the first band that introduced me to heavier music which led me down my path of metal. Chester Bennington’s voice and lyrics affected so many people, especially me. The world will not be the same without him. We decided to record this cover as a tribute to LP & Chester. Our thoughts and prayers are with their families and fans.

A fantastic and faithful cover, whilst not a complete carbon copy, ONI have brought their own flavour to it as all good covers should. Personally speaking, I never got into Linkin Park until much later than the rest of my generation did and I liked them but it wasn’t a watershed moment like it was for many people of my age group. I liked them and I’ll always respect what they did for a generation and what their lyrics and music mean to others.
