Classic Covers: Shawn James & The Shapeshifters – The Number of the Beast

Iron Maiden - The Number of the Beast (single)MoshShawn James & The Shapeshifters are a band I hadn’t heard of before yesterday. They’re from Backwatersville, Arkansas and play very laid back rock music. The sort of stuff you’d chill to rather than thrash to.

Over the last few years, they’ve released four albums including one consisting of covers. That last one was called Covers (they keep things simple out in the country) and includes this gem of a Maiden reworking.

Shawn James & The Shapeshifters are well worth checking out regardless of whether you’re listening to their own stuff, or their remodelling of past classics. And if you want to hear them make more music, then you can help with the Kickstarter campaign for their next release.
