Cover Song of the Day: Shattered Skies – Merry Christmas Everybody

Slade - Merry Christmas Everybody (1973)

Slade – Merry Christmas Everybody (1973)

Yeah, so I’ve already finished off the “12 days” stuff but this just appeared on my facebook timeline and I had to share it with you.

Shattered Skies were a New Band of the Day some time ago and, indeed have also featured as a Cover Song of the Day before! Just good timing on their part to fire this one across the bows when I was logged in.

As ever, it’s the kind of cover I like. A good rendition of the original without being a rip-off or attempting to recreate the exact sound of, in this case, Slade.

Incidentally, this song was number one in the UK charts for my first Christmas (aged 11 days). Interestingly, while looking for the cover of the single I notice that its title changed over the years to “Merry X’Maz Everybody” in various stages.

Enjoy!
