Band of the Day: Bitch Hawk

Bitch Hawk think they have the dumbest name possible. I’ve heard worse.

Simple things first – where are you guys from?

Stockholm, Sweden.

How did you meet?

We all met through our different bands, having random friends in common etc. Stockholm is pretty small. You will sooner or later bump in to someone who’s into stuff you’re into…

How long have you been playing as a band?

Since Fred (vocals) joined it’s been about two years now.

Before you get sick of being asked… where does the band name come from?

Oh, we tried to come up with the dumbest name possible. I think we did a pretty good job…

What are your influences?

We’re all in to anything nasty and raw. Could be anything, music, food, as long as it’s nasty and raw.

Describe your music. What makes you unique?

Nothing really unique here. Just straight up rock’n’roll music with a weakness for the occult…

Do you have any particular lyrical themes?

Bedwetting, OCR numbers, nihilism, death, men, violence, claustrophobia, you know, life.

What’s your live show like? How many shows have you played?

Our live show is pretty straight forward. Keeping everything stripped down to the minimal. Once we get any money out of this, we’ll spend it all on an insane amount of lasers and pyro; it’s gonna be sick.

What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?

If you remember your wildest show you weren’t there…

What kit do you use / guitars do you play / etc.?

Ludwig/Gretsch drums, Laney Kipp/ Sovtek guitar amp, Gibson Les Paul guitar, Sunn 2000S bass amp, Ibanez/P Bass

What, if anything, are you plugging/promoting at the moment?

Our new record JOY that just came out on Adrian recordings! Super stoked how that one turned out.

What are your plans for 2018?

Eat lots of ginger cookies and keep working on the next record that we wanna record in the spring of 2019.

If you were second on a three-band bill, which band would you love to be supporting and which band would you choose to open for you?

Bitch Hawk, Lumpy and the Dumpers and Warthog. That would be a pretty sick lineup.

A chance to plug someone you’ve toured with, or a mate’s band we’ve not heard of before!

Check out: Damn It I’m Mad, Haerdsmaelta, Stiu nu Stiu, Horndal

From previous Band of the Day Shadow of Everest: have you ever sustained any injuries on stage?

Fred broke a rib in the middle of a show once. Just from screaming. Nuts. Think he was in a great deal of pain for the last couple of songs…

From another BotD, Meka Nism: what is the craziest gift a fan has ever brought you or asked of you?

Got asked to participate in an orgy after a show. But it was more like a swingers party with a lot of really old fat people. Not my vibe.

And from Mask of Judas: if your band was a farm animal which animal would it be and why?

A hen I think. They’re so stupid. We really like stupidity so…
