Band of the Day: Dead Acid People

French stoner rock band Dead Acid People dropped us a trippy little line recently and agreed to answer our in-depth BotD questions, including the most thorough list of kit used that we’ve yet received! Don’t take this as a challenge…

Simple things first – where are you guys from?

Paris, France.

How did you meet?

Stéphane (guitar) was looking for a drummer to form a band. He met Guillaume (drums) by posting an announcement. Then Stéphane asked his friend Alain (bass) to join. 1½ years later (Aug 2016) and Mathieu, a friend of Alain & Stéphane, joined the band as the singer.

How long have you been playing as a band?

The band was formed in early 2014.

Before you get sick of being asked… where does the band name come from?

It comes from the movie The Sixth Sense, when the boy says “I See Dead People”. It first became Acid Dead People… then Dead Acid People.

What are your influences?

Stoner rock from Kyuss, 70’s riffing from Black Sabbath, and a touch of 90’s rock stuff (Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam…)

Describe your music. What makes you unique?

Our sound is stuck between 70’s & 90’s, without being 80’s ;)

Do you have any particular lyrical themes?

Obsessions, psychosis…

What’s your live show like? How many shows have you played?

We try to be as sincere as possible, and to sound lower and heavier than on the album. We’ve played a dozen shows, so far, included a support for Nightstalker (Greece).

What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?

Playing for less than 10 people in a venue where almost 100 people could get in, and did it anyway !

What kit do you use / guitars do you play / etc.?

What are your plans for the rest of 2017?

Keep on with French live shows, once a month at least, and write new stuff, potentially for an EP. Three songs are almost done as of today.

If you were second on a three-band bill, which band would you love to be supporting and which band would you choose to open for you? A chance to plug someone you’ve toured with, or a mate’s band we’ve not heard of before!

Kyuss as headline… with the original line-up! And our friends from Qilin as opening band. They are reeeeally good.

Courtesy of previous Band of the Day artist We Fall Slowly: If you could change one thing in the world we live in today, what would it be?

No more religion. No more God. At all.
