Band of the Day: Lucid AfterLife

Time for another set of quick-fire questions. Today’s artist… Lucid AfterLife. Lead singer Nat Jack rattled off the following responses.

Simple things first – where are you guys from?

Vancouver, Canada

How long have you been playing together as a band?

I think it’s been around four years since Lucid AfterLife first formed. Our bassist Miles and Guitarist Thom have just joined us this year.

lucid-afterlife-logoBefore you get sick of being asked… where does the band name come from?

We never get sick of this question because we have so many answers, Lucid AfterLife has so many seals of interpretation. I don’t even see myself as the same person I was some years ago, only connection to that man is this sexy flesh mobile we call a body and his memories. Every man and woman has the right to start a new life anytime they want and when they live that life to the fullest we call that the Living, or Lucid AfterLife.

Describe your music. What makes you unique?

Our listeners tell us that we are everything they ever loved about pop/rap/rock music mixed into one unadulterated concert. We never try to imitate or bite other artists in the mainstream so we end up having a unique take on things and no genre boundaries since we only play what we want, not what someone is telling us to

Do you have any particular lyrical themes?

Most things we talk about are not literal, there is always a deeper meaning, I was told once the best place to hide something is right in front of you.

What’s your live show like? How many shows have you played?

I have been performing since I was a kid. As a band Lucid AfterLife is in the triple digits. Our live show is unique, authentic and full of energy.

What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?

Maybe licking a girls face In the front row. It was in the moment – she told me it was amazing.

What kit do you use / guitars do you play / etc.?

Our bassist Miles Morrison rocks the following: Fender jazz bass. Darkglass b3k overdrive pedal. Gallien Krueger 1001rb amp. Thom Turner lead guitarist runs with the following: Equilibrium Guitars Ellipsis guitar , Mesa Boogie Amps, Dunlop 1.0 ultex sharp picks, Tribute Audio Design chorus, Diamond Pedals Memory Lane Junior, Walrus Audio Harvester, Xotic SP compressor, Morley Bad Horsie, Ibanez TS 9, Tc Electronic HOF pedals. Monster Cable, Daddario Strings. For drums Matt Shearlaw is bangin on a custom DW kit.

What are your plans for the rest of 2016?

We are getting set to release our new EP Occult Mafia Mistress in November and I am in Mexico City as we speak to film a rock film to go along with one of the songs.

If you could be part of any 3-band line-up (as support or headlining) who else would you have on the bill?

Porcupine Tree, Queen, and Ministry
