Band of the Day: Violent Revolution

Violent Revolution logoOne from the huge pile for you today – apologies for those who’ve emailed and are waiting to be covered! Phoenix, AZ spews forth the downright nasty thrashing sounds of Violent Revolution and they have a four-track EP you can download from Reverbnation for free.

Opener “Damaged” is, like the other songs, old fashioned lo-fi thrash. By the time you’re 45 seconds in, you can see the circle pits that this song could create. “Final Vow” is more of a crusher, to begin with at least, before ramping up the tempo at the halfway point. Some funky guitar effects stop this one from sounding overly generic without detracting from the simply thrashiness of it all.

“All Hail!” is just designed for live play with the (obvious from the title) chorus destined to result in shouts and raised fists. The EP ends with “Sudden Death”, which is probably the most traditionally “thrash” of the songs bringing to mind Hell Awaits-era Slayer with a hint of something different during the slow bridge.

The band formed in 2014 and are tentatively looking to record an album early next year. Based on what I’ve heard, it could be one to watch out for!
