Band of the Day: Novelists

Novelists - SouvenirsA little twist on the Band of the Day post today. Back when I started this off, it was “New” Band of the Day but I remained it some time ago. Today we have a new label, and Novelists are the artists releasing thefirst album through it. Arising Empire is a sub-label, spinoff, imprint, call it what you will of Nuclear Blast. Its focus is on new, young and up-coming acts – and that’s something that we here very much support.

So, Novelists. They’re from Paris and they play progressive metal (ethereal interblended landscapes, djent influenced tinges & monstrous riffs). Formed in 2013 by two brothers, Florestan (guitar) and Amael (drums) Durand, they drafted in three former members of A Call To Sincerity to complete the five-person lineup.

Five singles were followed by an EP in early 2014 and they were gathering interest far from their homeland, playing live sets all over the place (including Ghostfest that year) and a full European tour with I, The Breather towards the end of the year.

Their debut album, Souvenirs, is out on November 6th and is preceded by the first single “Gravity” which you can check out below.
