[avatar user=”Mosh” size=”50″ align=”left” /]Finland, Finland, Finland – you’re so near to Russia, so far from Japan, quite a long way from Cairo, lots of miles from Vietnam… and home to Unshine, today’s Band of the Day. Unshine are a female fronted “druid metal” (their term) band, focussing on spirituality in their lyrics and melody in their music.
With three albums out, they’re no new band and have plenty of experience. The first album, 2005’s Earth Magick, was self-recorded and produced. The Enigma of Mortals followed in 2008 and charted in its native Finland. This led to a lot of touring, some international airplay and a deal with Massacre Records who released the band’s third album, Dark Half Rising, in 2013.
Featuring an ethereal and atmospheric sound, Unshine are easy to listen to and just as easy to get hooked on. They have plenty of tracks available online for you to sample including the most recent video for “Idyl” below.
