Formed in 2011, managing just under 12,000 likes on facebook in the intervening three years, This Deafening Whisper are a band who cross a few genres. Based in Paris, they’re a further example of the great metal that France has to offer us.
Vocals that wouldn’t sound out of place on a death album ride the forefront of a drum attack that a hardcore band would be proud of. Heavy riffage from both 4- and 6-stringers are intermingled with atmospheric whines and keyboard undertones. The occasional audio effect, use of the bass at the forefront and stuttered rhythm bring the likes of prog to mind.
An unusual sound with many obvious influences, that all seem to come together in a very loud, brash, but pleasing package.
