Band of the Day: Edenfall

Edenfall - Under Sultry Moons and Velvet SkiesSome wonderfully dark gothic metal from the UK for you today in the form of Edenfall. They’re from “the heart of England’s past” which, I gather, is near Cheltenham.

Together since 2009, they’ve released one album – Forever Fallen – in 2011. Their second, Under Sultry Moons and Velvet Skies, has a release date of May 12th – only a couple of weeks away. One of the tracks from the album can be enjoyed below courtesy of the cloud of sounds. This will be their first through their new label Ravenheart Music.

Edenfall’s sound is very ethereal, based on what I’ve heard from them. Atmospheric pieces, and lengthy as well. The sample track below is a generous 13:44!

The tortured souls amongst you will appreciate the band’s own description of their sound:

Influenced by a range of weeping poets and tortured artists, Edenfall emit a truly melancholic sound which embodies all of the horror and the beauty within ourselves and the world around us.

As ever, give them a listen and if you like your gothic metal angsty and heart-wrenching then consider grabbing a copy of Under Sultry Moons and Velvet Skies when it comes out.
