24 Songs of Xmas Day Fifteen: Boy Jumps Ship – All Alone On Christmas (charity single)

North East punks Boy Jumps Ship are getting into the festive spirit today, releasing a cover of Darlene Love’s Christmas classic All Alone On Christmas. The track is available to download/stream on many services, and proceeds will go towards mental health charity MIND.

The original song, released in 1992, features on the soundtrack of Home Alone 2: Lost In New York, and the accompanying video sees Boy Jumps Ship pay homage to the classic film. Drummer Gav Gates has this to say:

The whole idea of this project was just to have a bit of fun with some music and a film that we love and join the two, to hopefully create a great end product that ultimately makes people, laugh and nod along, whilst raising some money for the MIND charity.

The idea for the video stems from a couple of years ago when we went to a halloween party as the cast of Home Alone and all of our friends told us how much we looked like them. We just thought ‘Let’s take this to the next level and cover the song with an awesome video’. We are also huge believers in supporting mental health and would love to do our bit to raise awareness of the issue, especially around a time of year when people can feel very lonely.

They’ll be wrapping up 2017 with a headline show in Newcastle on 17th December in remembrance of Chloe Rutherford and Liam Curry, two fans who were victims in the Manchester Arena attack earlier this year. All proceeds will be donated to The Chloe and Liam Together Forever Trust.
