Chris Mancini

Part-time musician (bit of bass, bit of guitar, bit of drums) who fixes computers full time.

Been music obsessed since I was a tiny kid listening to my parents 70’s based alternative rock. Then discovered Maiden’s “The Number of the Beast” as a 9 year old and the journey through the various, and often increasingly heavy, genres of metal just branched from there and never really stopped.

Also a bit of tech-geek and gamer with a history of gaming that goes all the way back to the 8-bit era! Yup, nerd.

Live in: Dumfries and previously spent most of my life in “Largs Vegas”, however like the immortal Connor Macleod, I’m from lots of different places…

Preferred genres: Death metal, prog, desert/stoner, thrash, speed and generally the cliched “anything that’s good”.

5 Favourite bands: Urgh, 15 favourite bands is hard enough to pick, but 5! Jeeez! The Mars Volta, Tool, Death, Monster Magnet, Leprous

5 Favourite albums: Impossibly hard and there are so many non-metal albums that have made a huge impact on my life, but for this purpose…

  • The Mars Volta – De-Loused in the Comatorium
  • Tool – Lateralus
  • Nine Inch Nails – The Downward Spiral
  • Death – Human
  • Monster Magnet – Powertrip

Most Embarrassing album owned: Generally I’m stubbornly proud of my more “unusual” albums, but quite ashamed that I somehow seem to have a Dragonforce album in my collection that I have literally zero recollection of getting!

Favourite Venues: Stereo, Glasgow. The Barras, Glasgow. Honourable mentions also go to Ivory Blacks and Audio in Glasgow.

First Gig: Helloween, Keeper of the Seven Keys tour in Edinburgh Playhouse.

Favourite Gig: Dillinger Escape Plan, QMU. Absolute physical madness that was also all played near enough album perfect. Shockingly good and genuinely gutted they are no more.

Favourite Drink: A good single malt. Not overly fussy about a particular one, there’s many that I love.

Favourite Food: Maybe a good and somewhat spicy Chicken Satay.
