[avatar user=”Progger” size=”50″ align=”left” /]Ursus is a young djent / prog death metal band from Swindon, UK. The six-piece band, with three guitar players, have just put out their debut EP titled The Migration, comprised of seven songs.

The intro “The Beginning” basically sets the pace for the rest of the recording. “Burn” features a very nice guitar work that emphasises the melodic and rhythmic side. “Transcendence” and “Scavenger” are the songs that Ursus picked as the EP’s singles. The band shows their influences ranging from Between The Buried And Me, Veil Of Maya and Intervals, accompanied with singing in the style of Enslaved’s Grutle Kjellson.

The title track closes the EP, which is a nice choice for the The Migration‘s epilogue, it’s powerful, melodic and it showcases what these youngsters are, hinting that their time is still to come.
